Phoenix Secure Transport works with healthcare and care organisations that need safe, professional and well-coordinated transport for patients and service users.

We provide both Non-Emergency Patient Transport and Secure and Mental Health Transport, with services arranged around the needs of the individual and the organisation responsible for their care.

Based in Northampton, we primarily support organisations across Northamptonshire. Longer-distance and out-of-area journeys can also be discussed with our team.

Non-Emergency Patient Transport

Our non-emergency patient transport service is intended for planned journeys where the passenger does not require an emergency ambulance response.

It can be arranged for suitable passengers attending:

  • Private hospitals and clinics
  • Physiotherapy and rehabilitation sessions

Secure and Mental Health Transport

Phoenix provides specialist secure transport for individuals who need a higher level of supervision, safeguarding or mental health support during a transfer.

Journeys may include transport between:

  • Hospitals and mental health facilities
  • Residential or supported care settings
  • Private addresses and healthcare facilities
  • Police custody, courts and secure settings
  • Local and out-of-area placements

Our trained staff take a calm, respectful approach, with an emphasis on de-escalation, dignity and passenger welfare. Relevant information is reviewed before each journey so that the transport plan reflects the individual’s needs and identified risks.

Wheelchair Accessible Transport

Our services are suitable for those needing assistance with walking or use a manual, folding or powered wheelchair. Passengers can also travel with a carer or relative. We can provide door-to-door assistance, help entering and leaving the vehicle, wheelchair securing, support inside healthcare facilities, waiting during appointments and assistance with mobility aids.

Every journey requires an individual assessment before transport can be confirmed. For wheelchair journeys, we will discuss the wheelchair type, mobility needs, required support and any access restrictions

Clinical Limitations

Phoenix Secure Transport is not an emergency or clinician-led ambulance service. Limited monitoring may be suitable following assessment, but continuous or advanced clinical monitoring normally requires a clinician-led ambulance.

Phoenix Secure Transport maintains appropriate operator and vehicle requirements, commercial insurance, staff screening and role-specific training. Our staff undertake safeguarding, first aid, infection-control, mobility and passenger-safety training appropriate to their responsibilities. Supporting documentation is available to commissioning organisations on request.

Hospital Discharge Transport

We provide planned and, where available, same-day hospital discharge transport for medically stable passengers. The hospital or discharging organisation must confirm that the passenger is medically fit for discharge and provide the relevant mobility, health, transport and handover information.

All discharge journeys require an assessment and are subject to staff and vehicle availability. Where necessary, a responsible person or care service must be available to receive the passenger. Urgent and out-of-hours discharge requests may be considered by prior arrangement.

We provide Non-Emergency Patient Transport throughout Northamptonshire, including Northampton, Kettering, Corby, Wellingborough, Rushden, Daventry, Towcester, Brackley and the surrounding towns, villages and rural communities. We also cover the wider Midlands. Long-distance and nationwide journeys are available by prior arrangement, subject to assessment and availability.
